The Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) is an assessment programme, conceptualised by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) that is tailored for the literacies required by all pupils in the primary school system.

It uses a combination of formative and summative assessments to assess students’ knowledge, skills and abilities. These assessments will require the input of teachers, students, parents, education officials and the CXC.

The main features of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment include the shared visions of assessment, the use of both formative and summative assessments, the alignment of curriculum with instruction, the recognition of students as participants and teachers as leaders in the process.
